Hello! And welcome to my online portfolio.
I’m an award-winning reporter and editor with experience in print, web, audio, video and social media coverage.
I’m a visual person and I incorporate that into everything I do. Whether I’m writing a news article, photographing a music festival or reporting live on location, my goal is to bring the experience to the audience.
I currently write about food, arts and life with the Winnipeg Free Press. My beat has allowed me to explore a wide range of topics, from the popularity of khoya gulab ice cream to the enduring pull of bonsai trees to life at a black bear rescue centre.
In 2023, I was a National Newspaper Award finalist for Bright and Beautiful, a profile on Anishinaabe artist Jordan Stranger and his work calling attention to corporate “orange-washing” during the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation.
That same year, I published a community cookbook celebrating the paper’s 150th anniversary. Homemade: Recipes and Stories from Winnipeg and Beyond is a 200-page cookbook with recipes from home cooks across Manitoba and stories about the Free Press’s long history of food journalism. The launch of the cookbook coincided with a community fall supper event, which featured a fine-dining menu created by a local chef and inspired by some of the 400 recipes submitted to the project.
My previous experience includes working as a reporter, photographer, copy editor and page assembler with the Free Press Community Review; as multimedia reporter, arts and culture columnist and copy editor at The Brandon Sun; and as a social media manager for The University of Winnipeg.
